ARKH Open Day – 19 June 2013

Our annual Open Day was another big success attracting approximately 250 attendees across the day. Guests enjoyed a ‘Kurdish’ style BBQ and the best in home-cooked food from Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. Live music included two Kurdish Saz musicians and new interpretations of traditional Berber music from Farid Warthilas. BBC Arabic attended the event and interviewed many of the participants in order to compile a report on the integration experiences of migrants to Hull.

Bransdale Mill in Pictures: 7-9 June 2013

Between 7 and 9 June 2013, 13 staff and volunteers of ARKH spent three days at Bransdale Mill in the North York Moors National Park. The trip was designed as an ‘away weekend’ in order to provide some respite from all our hard work in the centre. Amongst other activities, the weekend involved BBQ’s, sea-swimming, river swimming, hiking, singing and poetry exchange round a camp fire! We can’t wait to go back!

ARKH Survey Report 2012

Following a comprehensive survey of service users, agencies and volunteers associated with ARKH during the last six months, we have drawn together feedback into a survey report complete with conclusions and recommendations based on the feedback received. The report will be used as the basis for improving our services in the first half of 2013. The full report can be read at  Complete ARKH Survey Report

2012 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 13,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 3 Film Festivals

Volunteers’ Walk – Flamborough 31/8/12

On Friday 31st August a group of six volunteers together with Liz White (Chair of ARKH) and Ben Butler (Projects Manager) walked from Flamborough North Landing around the coast to Selwick Bay (Flamborough Head) and back again. The weather was perfect and all volunteers enjoyed the coastal walk and a dip in the sea afterwards! We hope to organise further trips in the near future.
